Since 1858, we have been part of the New York success story. Our founders sought to welcome newcomers to our shores, to teach, and provide opportunities for economic and personal growth. They fought for women’s rights and racial advancement, often against stiff opposition. That mission lives on today. In the host of after-school and summertime programs we currently offer, our students learn, discover, and have fun in the process. After successfully navigating the pandemic through virtual and hybrid offerings, it is a delight to once again be able to take our student scholars on field trips outside their neighborhoods, to explore museums and activities designed to inspire and ignite in them the possibilities for their futures.
Possibilities. This sentiment is imbued in everything we do. It lives in all our teaching, in how we interact with our young people, and with each other. Where there is challenge, we see hope. Where there is struggle, we find solutions. Every child we serve is unique and irreplaceable and we love them unreservedly. We seek to provide the very best for them and their families to uplift themselves from economic insecurity and to grow to become engaged civic-minded contributors in our global community.
We are so excited to gather in person and for this year’s SALUTE to celebrate the YWCA of the City of New York’s 165th anniversary of service to New York.
The event will take place the evening of Wednesday, October 11th, at City Winery's Grand Ballroom. The event honors leaders in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion including Changemaker Champion, Janessa Cox-Irvin, Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Corporate Citizenship at AllianceBernstein as well as the YWCA of the City of New York’s long-time advocate and retiring board chair, Tracy Richelle High, Partner at Sullivan and Cromwell. We will also celebrate The Grace Hoadley Dodge Community Leadership Award and emerging leaders in advocacy.
